PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the quality of a cylinder surface to be ground in a honing method in which a cylinder surface to be ground is honed by a honing head. SOLUTION: A diameter is measured at the upper limit position a1 , middle position b1 , and lower limit position c1 in the axial movement area of a honing head, and complete round diameters are obtained based on the actually measured diameter values Da , Db , and Dc , measured relative rotating phases ra , rb , rc , and internal surface cross-section related information. Based on these complete round diameters and axially relative positions, even if the cross-section is not substantially a complete round, the nonuniformity of the internal surfaces in the axial direction of the actual diameters can be obtained. When the honing head and a work to be ground are moved relatively to each other in axial direction within the range of relative movement in axial direction determined based on the nonuniformity of this actual diameter in axial direction, the internal surfaces can be brought closely to a complete round so as to increase the dimensional accuracy. |
