摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems on the mismatch accompanied by hybridization in the sequencing by hybridization(SBH) and provide a high-sensitivity and speedy identification of the base sequence of nucleic acids and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: In order to identify the base sequence of a single strand nucleic acid, hybrids of nucleic acids with a group of oligonucleotide probes are formed individually in a plurality of regions arranged for each species. The probes of these hybrids are used as primers to effect elongation as the template of the nucleic acid and the elongation degree is detected to identify the base sequence of the nucleic acid specimen. This base sequence identification apparatus is used to identify the base sequence of a single strand nucleic acid and is equipped with a means for arranging a group of oligonucleotide probes individually in a plurality of regions for each species, the means for forming hybrids of the probes and the nucleic acid, the means for using the probes of these hybrids as primers to effect elongation as the template of the nucleic acid and the means for detecting the elongation degree and identifying the base sequence of the nucleic acid specimen.
