PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display the grammatical errors with higher accuracy and to correct these errors with no overcorrection by adding tags to the sentences in regard to the parts of speech to check the sentences about inaccurate grammar and accessing the headwords of an English dictionary based on the context where the words appear. SOLUTION: The output of an analyzer 20 is connected to a part-of-speech sequence probability decision unit 22 to derive the sequence probability of an input sentence 10. The output of the unit 22 is used by various modules for analysis of the sentence 10. Then the hardness that is decided by the part-of- speech sequence is useful in a context sensitivity dictionary reference module 40. In general, the given words have many parts of speech corresponding to the semi-headwords of a dictionary other than the context. The module 40 accesses the dictionary and selects a proper definition based on the part of speech of the word that is obtained by the part-of-speech analyzer 20. |
