PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a target change gear ratio in a short time by setting a plurality of temporary target change gear ratios, calculating a value of evaluation function composed by combining elements which show the behavior of a vehicle when it is assumed that gear is shifted to each temporary target gear change ratio, comparing the calculated evaluation function values, and selecting the best value. SOLUTION: In a controller 2, a plurality of temporary target change gear ratios, for example, a current change gear ratio, a change gear ratio which is larger than the current change gear ratio by a fixed value, and a change gear ratio which is smaller than the current change gear ratio by a fixed value, are set in advance. When it is assumed that gear is shifted to each temporary target gear change ratio, how a vehicle behaves is examined, and an evaluation function value such as sum of values obtained by multiplying a weighing coefficient set for elements which indicate the behavior of the vehicle (vehicle speed, number of rotation of engine, fuel consumption, etc.) is calculated. Next, evaluation function values per temporary target change gear ratio are compared, the best evaluation value is selected, the temporary target change gear ratio which corresponds to the selected evaluation function value is determined to be a target change gear ratio of gear shift of this time, and the selected evaluation function value is output of an actuator 3 for change gear. |
