PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation apparatus by which information on the advance- direction side of a vehicle can be displayed widely by a method wherein a display means turns and displays map information in such a way that the display state of the map information satisfies a prescribed condition. SOLUTION: A rotation control part 21 computes an angle of rotationθ1 so as to be output to a drive part 22 in such a way that the advance-direction side of a vehicle can be displayed widely, and the angle of rotation is output to a drive part 22. The drive part 22 turns a display part 14 by the angle of rotationθ1. In order to display the advance-direction side most widely, the position of the vehicle is shifted to the side of a side, one side, of the display part 14, and the display part 14 is turned in such a way that its long axis agrees with the advance direction of the vehicle. On the basis of image information which is stored in a memory and whose range is winder than a display screen, a control part 13 turns the display part to the opposite direction by the angle of rotationθ1 computed by the rotation control part 21, and the image information is read out so as to be output to the display part 14 in such a way that, even when the display part 14 is turned, the map information is not turned as viewed from a driver. In this manner, even when the display part 14 is turned, the direction of the map information as viewed from the driver is not changed, and the advance-direction side of the vehicle can be displayed widely. |
