PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain such an ink compsn. for a light-shielding layer of a color filter that has food dispersion of a carbon black in the ink and has low viscosity, by incorporating a specified proportion of the carbon black to which a copolymer of styrene and acrylate or methacrylate is grafted on the surface. SOLUTION: A carbon black to which a copolymer of styrene and acrylate or methyacrylate (hereinafter referred to as (meth)acrylate) is grafted to the surface is incorporated by 20 to 100 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of a thermosetting resin. In this case, the carbon black to which the copolymer of styrene and (meth)acrylate is grafted to the surface is obtd. by oxidizing the surface of the carbon black to produce functional groups such as carboxyl groups and hydroxyl groups and allowing the functional groups to react with the styrene-(meth)acrylate copolymer having epoxy groups or isocyanate groups on the molecular ends.
