1,133,262. Tunnelling machine. PHILIPP HOLZMANN A.G. 7 March, 1966, No. 9868/66. Heading E1F. In a tunnelling machine an oscilllatable cutter head, which is positioned across the leading end of a tunnelling shield, has bi-directional cutting means mounted on spoke-like arms of the head. In the sectors between the arms are mounted plates 8 that may either lie in the plane of the cutter head to be forwardly biassed against the face of the tunnel being formed by the machine or may be swung to lie at right angles to said plane so that access to the face is possible from behind the head. Material removed from the face by the head passes through the head to be picked up by a bucket wheel 10 intermittently rotatable about the drive shaft 3 of the head. The shaft 3 drives the bucket wheel through a pawl and ratchet mechanism. Material picked up by the bucket wheel is discharged onto a shaker conveyer extending rearwards through the shield and driven by the shaft 3.
|
