<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly correct a curl, made during passage through a fixing means, according to a place to which a sheet is ejected. SOLUTION: In the case where a face-up tray 2 is closed and face-down sheet ejection is selected, a distance in the direction of a sheet thickness between a fixing nip line formed by a heater 11 and pressure roller 12 and a carrying nip line formed by a pair of carrying rollers 14 is short, therefore an amount of the correction of a downward curl made during the passage of the sheet through the fixing nip is small. In the case where the face-up tray 2 is opened (as illustrated by a broken line) and the face-up sheet ejection is selected, the distance in the direction of the sheet thickness between the fixing nip line and the carrying nip line is long, therefore the amount of the correction of the downward curl is large. When the face-up tray 2 is opened, the position where the pair of carrying rollers 14 are set is changed upward.</p> |
