PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the transfer of arc discharge due to pulse leak for more safety by forming the same potential of a conductive case, in which an ignitor is stored, as the potential of an input line for a pulse transformer. SOLUTION: An ignitor 30 inputs a DC current from a chopper circuit 2 and generates and outputs high voltage pulse to light a high pressure discharge lamp 6. The high pressure discharge lamp 6 is lit with high voltage pulse supplied via a connector 50. A conductive case, in which the ignitor 30 is stored, is formed of conductive material to be partly connected to a high voltage applied line power supply side, where high voltage is output from a high voltage generating circuit. In this way, if extremely high voltage pulse from the ignitor 30 leaks, the transfer of arc discharge is prevented only by glow discharge near a pulse transformer for more safety. |
