PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for measuring the gamma ray of a fuel assembly in which the increase in measurement error accompanying positioning error can be automatically suppressed even when the rotation directional positioning of the fuel assembly is not artificially precisely performed. SOLUTION: In a method of measuring the gamma ray released from a fuel assembly by arranging a gamma ray detector on the outside crossing the central axis of a fuel assembly 11, at least a pair of gamma ray detectors 12, 13 are arranged in positions equally spaced from an estimated plane including a central axis of the fuel assembly and estimated so that the fuel assembly is bilateral, and the counting is performed on the basis of one signal obtained by composing the signals of the paired gamma ray detectors.
