<p>Apparatus for use in separating and retaining oil from the surface of an area of water comprises a collection boom (12) towable through water by a towing vessel and a containment area rearwardly of the boom. A portion of the boom is arranged to permit flow of oil over the boom and into the containment area. The oil collects in the containment area and may be recovered from the area.</p> |
