1,3,5-Triazine derivative salts of polyacids comprising phosphorus, sulfur, and oxygen, which are produced through the steps of: (a) mixing melamine, phosphoric acid, and sulfuric acid at 0 to 330 DEG C in such proportions that the amount of melamine is 1.0 to 4.0 mol per mol of the sum of phosphoric acid (in terms of orthophosphoric acid) and sulfuric acid (in terms of sulfuric acid) and the amount of sulfuric acid (in terms of sulfuric acid) is 0.05 to 20 mol per mol of phosphoric acid (in terms of orthophosphoric acid) to yield a reaction product, and (b) baking the reaction product thus obtained at 340 to 400 DEG C for 0.1 to 30 hours, and which have a solubility in water (25 DEG C) of 0.01 to 0.10 g/100 ml and a pH of 2.0 to 7.0 as measured on its 10 wt.% aqueous slurry (25 DEG C).
