PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for book original by which the deceleration of reading speed is prevented, without requiring much time for image- processing by performing image distortion correction and image density correction at the binding part of book original. SOLUTION: This reader has original platens 1 and 1 for placing a book original BO at a prescribed position, holding means for holding the image plane of book original BO, which is spread to both sides, placed at the prescribed position on the original platens 1 and 1 on a reading plane 273 of the almost the same plane, image reading means (lens 106 and CCD 101 or the like) arranged at a prescribed distance with respect to the reading plane 273, book original form recognizing means for recognizing the binding part form of book original BO spread to both the sides in the state of holding the image plane of book original BO, which is spread to both the sides, placed at the prescribed position on the original platens 1 and 1 through the holding means, and image- processing part for correcting the image distortion of binding part BOa from the binding part form of book original BO, recognized by the book original form recognizing means. |
