PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which substantially prevents the flawing of a substrate surface and has an excellent protective property and a production method thereof. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium has an org. protective layer. The org. protective layer consists of a cured layer of a chemical ray curing resin compsn. consisting essentially of at least two kinds of polymerizable monomers having >=2 pieces of acryloyloxy groups in one molecule. This process for producing the optical recording medium includes a stage for applying the chemical ray curing resin compn. common, contg. the polymerizable monomers and solvents on the substrate and curing the coating. The solvents are at least one kind selected from propylene glycol monomethyl ether and propylene monomethyl ether.
