PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately and forcibly eject out a defective cartridge to the outside in a simple and compact structure upon occurrence of such a defective cartridge to exist. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a cartridge forcibly ejecting mechanism 13 for forcibly ejecting out the defective cartridge 10 to the outside, and this cartridge forcibly ejecting mechanism 13 is equipped with a housing rack 16 for housing the defective cartridge 10 fed by a transfer mechanism from the side of an operating space 9 of the transfer mechanism inside the library device, and is also equipped with a door 15 for opening/closing an opening part 14 for directly communicatively connecting a cartridge housing space in this housing rack 16 to the outside space of the library device from the side of the outside space.
