PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To gather instruction traces in real time without requiring additional external connection pins by informing an instruction trace controller of discontinuity with an instruction control signal from a CPU which has an instruction pointer. SOLUTION: An instruction pointer held sequentially in an instruction pointer register 406 of the CPU is supplied to an instruction trace controller 40 by a bus 310. When an instruction control signal connected to the instruction pointer indicates the presence of the discontinuity, the instruction pointer of the discontinuity is stored at a trace storage position discriminated by an address register. While a proper trace storage position is accessed, the instruction pointer of the discontinuity is temporary held in the register. After the instruction pointer is stored in the discriminated trace storage position, it is removed from the register or left as an example in the register for next access for the purpose of additional diagnosis. |
