PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of image quality in the case of simultaneous transfer that primary transfer and secondary transfer are simultaneously performed. SOLUTION: In this intermediate transfer unit, a toner image formed on a photoreceptor 110 is primarily transferred to an intermediate transfer belt by impressing bias on a roller electrode 600 arranged at a position different from a primary transfer part T1 on the surface of the intermediate transfer belt, and the toner image is secondarily transferred to a recording medium by impressing the bias on a secondary transfer member 380. The backup member 320 of the primary transfer part is an elastic body, the resistance value of the roller electrode is <=1MΩ, and a high voltage power source impressing the bias on the electrode 600 performs current suctional constant-voltage control.
