PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a signal corresponding to the distance between a magnetic detected object and a magnetic resistance element with high accuracy without depending on the moving direction, moving speed, and the like of the magnetic detected object by arranging the magnetic resistance element having hysteresis, with a specified angle to a magnetized direction of a magnet. SOLUTION: A magnet 11 such as a permanent magnet is arranged being radially spaced from the outer peripheral surface of a rotor 10 formed of a magnetic substance, a magnetic detected object, and a magnetic resistance element M with hysteresis is arranged between the magnet 11 and the outer peripheral surface of the rotor 10. The magnet 11 is so arranged that the magnetized direction of the magnet 11 is parallel with a line L passing the rotational center O of the rotor 10 and the center C of A-side resistors 1, 3 and B-side resistors 2, 4 of a magnetic resistance element M, and the magnetic resistance element M is so arranged that the arranged surface of the resistors 1, 3 and 2, 4 is inclined by a specified angleθto a line H orthogonal to the line L.
