PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator and an optical module which resolve problems of conventional bulk-type optical isolators and waveguide-type optical isolators and have a satisfactory coupling efficiency of light propagated in a space to a waveguide core and are superior to have a very small light loss. SOLUTION: Waveguide-type mode filters 2 and 3 which allow the mode light of incident light to selectively pass through are arranged on both dies of a polarizing mode rotating body 10 which is provided with a non-reciprocal rotation part 8, which non-reciprocally rotates the plane of polarization of incident light at a prescribed angle, in one side and is provided with a reciprocal rotation part 9, which reciprocally rotates the plane of polarization of incident light at a prescribed angle, on the other side. |
