PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for liquid crystal display panel having such a structure that broken pieces of an organic alignment layer are hardly stuck to a recognition mark at the time of rubbing treatment. SOLUTION: With respect to the substrate for liquid crystal display panel where an inorganic insulating film 3 is formed on one face of a substrate main body 2 and an organic alignment layer 4 is formed on this inorganic insulating film 3 and a recognition mark 6 is formed on a part of one face of the substrate main body 2, a wall body 10 is formed around the recognition mark to prevent the recognition mark 6 from being rubbed with a rubbing treatment body 8 at the time of rubbing treatment when the surface of the organic alignment layer 4 is rubbed with the rubbing treatment body 8.
