PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension detector for stringing a cable which makes it possible to highly accurately detect the tension of cable in a cable-stringing device simply by installing the tension detector on the cable-stringing device not equipped with the detector. SOLUTION: A tension detector for stringing a cable has an upper frame 1 and a lower frame 2 combined in such a way as to movable. The upper frame is provided with a load transmitting part 3 and the lower frame with a load receiving part 8. A load detecting means 14 is installed between these load transmitting and receiving parts. Then, a cable-stringing device E is placed on the upper frame to be operated. The movability of the upper frame transmits the tension of a cable of this device from the load transmitting part to the load receiving part via the load detecting means.
