PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the data read/write rate by fabricating first and second vertical face emission lasers having a power level sufficient for writing on an optical disc and a first photodetector for detecting a light reflected on the optical disc on a common substrate. SOLUTION: A read/write head 200 comprises two read assemblies 210, 220, and a write laser 231 and various components are fabricated on a substrate 201. A write detector 232 for monitoring the position or the power of the write laser 231 is provided optionally. Each read assembly comprises a laser, and one or more photodetector for measuring the intensity of laser output reflected on a disc 11. A detector 211 and a laser 212 correspond to an assembly 210 while a detector 222 and a laser 221 correspond to an assembly 220. |
