PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lithium iron composite oxide which has charge and discharge reversibility as electrode active material used for a nonaqueous battery by containing a lithium iron composite oxide in which a mole ratio and a lattice constant of lithium and iron are in specified ranges and a crystal structure is a space group Fd3m. SOLUTION: Electrode active material for a nonaqueous battery contains lithium iron composite oxide expressed by a chemical formula β-LiFe5 O8 in which a mole ratio (x) (Li/Fe) of lithium (Li) and iron (Fe) is x<=0.15, a lattice constant (a) is in a range of a>8.339 angstroms, and a crystal structure is a space group Fd3m. As cycle characteristics, in the relationship between the number of cycles and discharge capacity, the discharge capacity when charge and discharge is repeated in a range of 1.5 to 4.2V shows a high value 100mAh/g at first cycle, and is stable in 67 to 69mAh/g in a fourth cycle to a tenth cycle, so as to obtain the electrode active material having much larger discharge capacity than about 20mAh/g of conventional products. |
