[Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R is H or Me, and X is H, Me or Cl. These compounds are prepared by reacting the corresponding indanol with (a) MeNCO, or (b) excess COCl 2 to give the chloroformate which is reacted with MeNH 2 , or (c) the equivalent amount of COCl 2 to give the bis-indonyl carbonate which is reacted with MeNH 2 .
