<p>An apparatus is provided for preparing a medical composition including a first member (12) defining a mixing chamber (16) having a predetermined amount of a first medical component (70) contained therein, the first member (12) having first (17) and second (72) openings each in communication with the mixing chamber (16), and a mixing subassembly (29) operatively connected to the first member (12) so that the mixing subassembly (29) substantially seals the first opening (17), the mixing subassembly (29) including a mixing member (31) and a second member (30) receivable one within the other. The first member (12) and mixing subassembly (29) are slidable guidingly, one within the other, between first and second relative positions with the first member (12) and mixing subassembly (29) operatively connected. The mixing member (31) is supported for rotation relative to the first member (12) about a first axis (45) and includes a shaft (44) and a plurality of paddles (46) projecting radially from the shaft relative to the first axis and spaced, each from the other, axially relative to the first axis.</p> |
