PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydrogen secondary battery, whereby elution of hydrogen occluded alloy for negative electrode material into an alkaline electrolyte is prevented, and prolonging of a life time is possible, while a high electrode capacity is obtained. SOLUTION: In a nickel hydrogen secondary battery in which a separator 13 with electric insulation property is inserted between a negative electrode material 11, containing hydrogen occluded alloy and a positive electrode 12 containing nickel oxide and is contained in a sealed container 14, and alkaline electrolyte is filled in the container 14, it is featured that at least one kind of ions of elements composing the hydrogen occluded alloy mentioned above is made to exsist in the electrolyte. In addition, it is preferable that the ions exsisting in the electrolyte are ions of an element, the standard electrode potential of which is inferior to -1V. |
