PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the level of the quantity of electric charges, to prevent charge-up and spending, to stabilize the quantity of electric charges and to impart an electrophotographic carrier having a high level of the quantity of electric charges to a negative charge type toner by using polyimide resin having repeating units each contg. a diorganosiloxy group and a specified compd. as essential components. SOLUTION: This coating agent contains 100 pts.wt. polyimide resin having repeating units each contg. a diorganosiloxy group and 0.1-70 pts.wt. compd. contg. two or more epoxy groups in one molecule, e.g. epoxy resin as essential components or further contains a catalyst, preferably an imidazole compd. The polyimide resin is produced by the conventional known method adopted to synthesize polyimide resin.
