<p>A laser or laser amplifier apparatus (10) has a diode pump source (14) producing a polarized pump beam. A laser head (20) includes a gain medium (24) that produces an output beam. One or more optical fibers (18) are coupled to the diode pump source and deliver the pump beam to the laser head. A depolarization device (32) is coupled to the diode pump source, laser head or optical fiber and produces a depolarized pump beam. By depolarizing the pump beam, movement, including rotation, of the pump source does not influence the output beam produced from the laser head.</p> |
