<p>A biological growth unit suitable for aerobic cultivation of organisms comprises a growth chamber 7 adapted to contain a growth liquid in which organisms grow, liquid removing means for removing liquid and organisms from the growth chamber and control means for controlling the operation of the liquid removing means. Preferably additional control means are provided for selectively delivering organisms from container 9, nutrients from container 11 and growth liquid through pipe 13 to the chamber and for controlling the temperature in the chamber. A cleaning assembly in a sink 2 and drain 3 system consists of the growth unit 7 attached either directly or indirectly to a grease trap 4, the growth unit being adapted to deliver organisms periodically to the trap so as to digest grease therein.</p> |
