The ambiguity resolution mechanism has a frequency ramp switching between two parallel ramps (32,33) separated by a small frequency separation (df) at a time interval (Tf). The phase difference between the two sets of signals received allows the real range and speed of the target to be resolved by finding the correct ambigutiy providing the speed of the car in front.
