The device has at least one manually operated control element (10) which outputs an actual value (12) or a reference value (14) depending on its setting. The reference value is placed in a first memory (20) and is compared with the actual value. An initial value is placed in a second memory (28). A holding circuit (30) controlled by the comparator (16) places a first deviation of the actual value from the reference value in a third memory (34) as an output signal. An evaluation circuit (18) selects the initial value for transfer to the control electronics (26) if the output signal indicates no first deviation of the actual value from the reference value.
