<p>The gear changing process is for a double coupling transmission (10) with two transmission input shafts (E1, E2) and one transmission output shaft (A). each input shaft has a friction coupling (K1, K2). Initially one coupling is engaged and transmitting torque and the other is open. The target gear is on the same input shaft as the source gear. There is an auxiliary gear on the other shaft, the transmission ratio of which is greater than that of both the target gear and the source gear, to create full torque.</p>
