PROCESS FOR FIXING FILTER DUST CONTAINING HEAVY METALS IN CERAMIC MOULDINGS

The filter dust is washed in an alk. reacting medium being mixed with clay and water forming mouldings from the mixture, and firing the green moulding at a temperature between 900 and 1100 °C. The firing temperature is selected in such a manner that a melt phase is formed below the softening point thus leading to vitrification and hence to permanent occlusion of the heavy metals in the moulding.
