This invention relates generally to a method for modulating hypothalamic somatostatin release in a mammal in need of such treatment by administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a leptin receptor ligand. The present invention also relates to a method of modulating plasma levels of growth hormone, thyroxine, and tri-iodothyroxine by administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a leptin receptor ligand, or specific antibodies to leptins. |
