<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dechlorination agent reacting a component such as harmful chlorine gas generated when a material to be treated containing a chlorine component is thermally treated to form harmless gas and forming chloride free from a harmful component even in residue. SOLUTION: A dechlorination agent reacting with chlorine gas in a heated low oxygen atmosphere is constituted of alkali metal hydroxide reacting with chlorine gas to form harmless chloride. The concrete dechlorination agent is selected from a single substance selected from sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide, rubidium hydroxide and cesium hydroxide, two or more kinds of single substances and a mixture of two or more kinds of single substances. This dechlorination agent is brought into contact with chlorine gas in either one of lumpy, plate-shaped, porous, powdery, soln. and suspension forms.</p> |
