PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain iron carbide according to grain diameters of iron-containing raw material or progressing condition of the reaction by classifying a powdery and granular iron-containing raw material for iron-making according to the grain diameters, i.e., plural classes and reducing and carbonizing the iron-containing raw material correspondingly to each grain diameter. SOLUTION: The inner part of a fluidized bed type reaction vessel 7 is divided into sections 8a-8e for coarse ore and sections 9a-9d for fine ore and, in a pipe line 10 of reaction gas supplied to the sections for fine ore, a flow rate adjusting valve 1 is arranged. Fine powder in the gas exhausted from the reaction vessel 7 is collected with a cyclone 12, and the fine powder is returned back to the sections 9a-9d. Since the treating capacities of the fine powder and the coarse powder per a reaction gas passing cross sectional area of the fluidized bed type reaction vessel 7 can be equalized by adjusting a flow rate adjusting vale 11, the fine ore and the coarse ore can simultaneously be treated by using a single reaction vessel for which gas composition at its inlet is regulated to be the same. When the classification of wet iron-containing raw materials is difficult, the iron-containing raw materials are classified after preheating. |
