A building element (10), which includes a top surface (12) and a bottom surface (14), spaced and extending substantially parallel to each other; and a plurality of sides, extending between the top (12) and bottom (14) surfaces. The building element (10) also includes a tongue (24) projecting from one of the sides (20, 22), with the tongue (24) extending between the top (12) and bottom (14) surfaces along an axis substantially transverse to the top (12) and bottom (14) surfaces, with a head portion (27) and a waist portion (25) on each tongue (24). A groove (26) is defined on at least one side of the tongue (24), with each groove extending between the top (12) and bottom (14) surfaces; each groove (26) having a complementary shape to the head portion (27) of the tongue (24), and with each groove (26) having a restricted opening (29) complementary to the waist portion (25) of the tongue (24), so that the head portion (27) is slidably receivable in a groove (26) of an adjacent building element (10), with the waist portion (25) fitting snugly in the restricted opening (29) of the grooves (26). |
