<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emission controller excellent in print quality and a printer employing it in which all light emitting elements, e.g. LEDs, employed as printing elements emit light for same time interval, analog circuit is not employed and monotonous increasing properties and linearity are not damaged. SOLUTION: The driver circuit for a printer comprises current sources 5, 6 connected, respectively, with switches 7, 8 and the current source 5 supplies a low current while the current source 6 supplies a high current, for example. In such circuitry, the switch 7 is normally turned on while the switch 8 is turned on/off according to the fluctuation in the characteristics of an LED element 4 or the gradation information of an image to be printed by emitting light from the LED element 4 thus emitting light from a corresponding LED element 4 for a predetermined time. This arrangement realizes a light emission controller for controlling the dot size constantly.</p> |
