PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity of calender equipment by enabling a semi-condensed sheet to be transferred from a calender roll to a take-off roll without generating contractions or wrinkles at width end portions. SOLUTION: In this equipment, a plurality of take-off rolls 12 are provided downstream of a calender roll so as to be adjacent thereto, and a sheet is taken up from the calender roll by this take-off roll, whereby a state from a semi-condensed state to a solidified state can be maintained. In this case, a shrink preventing device 14 is provided which is adapted to be brought into contact with an end portion of a sheet on the take-off roll to expand the sheet outwardly in a width direction. This shrink preventing device 14 comprises at least pair of touch rolls 16 adapted to be in contact with the ends of the take-off roll on the upstream side, and these touch rolls 16 each comprise a cylindrical portion supported rotatably about an axial center and a spirally projecting portion provided on the outer circumference of the cylindrical portion, and the sheet is designed to be expanded outwarly in the width direction by means of this spirally projecting portion. |
