PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for going up and down stairs which does not require equipping the stairs with any particular facility, involves no risk of damaging the stairs, and allows a person to go up and down the stairs stably with the aid of a simple mechanism configured on the leg expansion/contraction system. SOLUTION: A device for going up and down stairs is composed of a body 1 having a control part 11, running wheels 2a-2f for making parallel displacement on a running path or stairs, and legs 3a-3f where the wheels 2a-2f are attached to one-side ends and which can make expansion and contraction in the vertical direction independent of the undersurface of the body 1. The body 1 and running wheels 2a-2f move in the vertical direction with expansion and contraction of the legs 3a-3f in compliance with the level difference of the stairs, and the body 1 moves in the horizontal direction through the legs 3a-3f while the wheels 2a-2f are driven. That is, one goes up and down the stairs through repetition of moving operations in the horizontal direction and vertical direction under control of the control part 11. |
