PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device for axial original point of die with which the setting of the position of the origin of the punch P and die of respective prescribed upper/lower dies on upper/lower tables in a sheet metal working machine such as a numerically controlled(NC) press brake is measured easily and accurately in a short time. SOLUTION: This device is constituted so that the device 1 for measuring the origin of die axis having an X-shaped member whose cross angle is variable is mounted between the punch P and the die D, the cross angleθis measured with an encoder 3 through a rack 2, transferred to an NC automatic positioning device 4 and the distance (height) H of the origin of D axis is determined and also, if an actually mounted die is different from the prescribed die of a program, the start of operation is automatically inhibited.
