PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber compsn. which gives a pneumatic studless snow tire improved in performance on ice or snow by compounding at least one rubber with a powder or fibers of an oxyalkylene-group-contg. polyvinyl alcohol resin. SOLUTION: A saponification product of a copolymer of vinyl acetate and an etylenically unsatd. monomer (in a content of 5-20wt.%) having oxyalkylene groups represented by the formula (wherein R<1> and R<2> are each H or alkyl; X is H or an alkyl, alkyl ester, alkylamide, or sulfonate group; and (n) is 1-300) is used as the polyvinyl alcohol resin. A practical example of the ethylenically unsatd. monomer is polyoxyethylene allyl ether. The average particle size of the powder is 20-1,000μm; the average length of the fibers is 10-5,000μm; and the aspect ratio is 10-1,000. The amt. of the resin compounded is 3-50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. rubber compsn. |
