PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply obtain the subject compound that is useful as a medicine, agrochemical or their intermediate in a high yield by conducting a catalytic reduction reaction using a specific disulfide. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (R<1> -R<4> are each H, nitro, hydroxyl; R<5> is a cycloalkyl or an aryl) is catalytically reduced in a solvent as an ether, for example, tetrahydrofuran or dioxane or an alcohol in the presence of a palladium, platinum or nickel catalyst, preferably over a palladium on carbon catalyst to produce the objective compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is prepared from 2,2'-bisaminodiphenyldisulfide and a reactive derivative of a carboxylic acid of the formula: R<5> -X (X is a halocarbonyl, -COOCOR<5> ). The compound of formula II is efficiently obtained in high yield and can solve the problems on the metal residue and the treatment of waste fluid. |
