Polymer blends comprise (1) chlorinated polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymer and (2) a graft copolymer obtained by graft polymerizing one or more monomers, at least one of which contains two conjugated double bonds, on to vinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride copolymer. Grafting monomers specified which contain conjugated double bonds are butadiene and isoprene. Grafting comonomers specified are acrylonitrile, ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, styrene and divinyl benzene. Other materials which may be present in the blends are plasticizers, organo-tin stabilizers, ester wax and styrene/acrylonitrile copolymers. The blends are used in producing mouldings of high impact strength. The examples describe the blending of chlorinated polyvinyl chloride with polyvinyl chloride on to which had been grafted mixtures of butadiene with (1) acrylonitrile, (b) methyl methacrylate, (c) styrene and methyl methacrylate, (d) acrylonitrile and divinyl benzene, and (e) ethyl acrylate. |
