Method for projecting a continuous line of light of essentially homogeneous high intensity for application in a system for detecting surface defects in a moving strip, comprising a light source and a set of optical lenses, whereby the set of optical lenses is positioned at an appropriately selected location between the strip and the light source, wherein the light source comprises at least two tubular filament lamp elements arranged in two straight paths parallel to the longitudinal direction of the filament, wherein a lamp element in a path is positioned relatively to a lamp element in an adjacent path in such a way that the extremities of the parts of the lamp element generating light during operation as seen perpendicular to the path coincide or overlap. |
