PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual starter rope guide structure for an outboard engine, for improving the durability of a starter rope by suppressing its uneven wear. SOLUTION: An outboard engine involves a cowling, which encloses an engine with a vertical crankshaft and has on its upper portion a rope guide 16 for receiving therethrough and guiding a starter rope 15 extending from a recoil starter (or manual starter) 14 arranged at the upper end of the crankshaft. The roper guide 16 is formed with a guide part 18d having a curved surface 18d-1 as a contact surface with the rope 15. For the manual startup of the engine, the rope 15 thus slides on the curved surface 18d-1 of the guide part 18d in the rope guide 16 and suffers less uneven wear caused by excessive unsymmetrical contact for its improved durability. |
