PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decompose efficiently high concentration ammonia and inhibit the by-production of NOx by incorporating an oxide carrier, Ag and a specified element in a catalyst for oxidatively decomposing ammonia out of exhaust gas containing specified concentration ammonia, oxygen and water vapor. SOLUTION: An ammonia decomposition catalyst is used for oxidatively decomposing ammonia in exhaust gas containing ammonia of 100-30,000ppm, oxygen and water vapor, and contains at least one kind or more selected out of titania, alumina, silica and zeolite as an oxide carrier and at least one kind or more selected out of Ag, Fe, Mn, Zn, Mo, V and W as a catalyst active component formed on a surface layer of the carrier. It is preferable that the atom is ratio of Ag of the catalyst active component at the ratio of 0.2-0.01 is contained to one part of the oxide carrier and that the atomic ratio of Fe, Mn, Zn, Mo, V or W of the catalyst active component at the ratio of 0.1-0.001 is contained therein to one part of the oxide carrier. |
