PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a long storage life to form images of not only an ink mixture prepared to meet an order, but of optimum quality, by using an ink vehicle stored in an ink reservoir and an ink element which can be blended, and selectively introducing the ink element to the vehicle. SOLUTION: An ink colorant actually occupies a small ratio of a total volume of a general ink-jet ink mixture such as an ink mixture mainly composed of a dye or an ink mixture mainly composed of a coloring matter. The remaining part of the ink mixture is generally an ink vehicle of a colorless fluid carrying the ink colorant to a print medium 40. Most of the colorless ink vehicle is often composed of water including additives of volatile components such as alcohol and the like. The water and volatile components are evaporated when exposed to the air, thereby adhering the ink colorant to the print medium 40. These volatile components determine a storage life of the ink mixture prepared in a factory. |
