PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the fuel feed of a pump for an internal combustion engine by improving the pump efficiency. SOLUTION: A housing 41 internally supports a plunger 47 slidably to define a cylinder chamber 52, and a camshaft 50 rotated by the torque of the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine is formed with cam parts 50a adapted to contact with one end of the plunger 47. The turning motion of the cam parts 50a by the rotation of the camshaft 50 reciprocates the plunger 47 to suck fuel into the cylinder chamber 52 or discharge fuel out of it. The cam parts 50a have a cam profile defined by a first-order component and a second- order component (Asinθ+Bsin2θ), not including a higher-order component.
