PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print with higher resolution, reduce splashes related to ink drops, and improve a locus of ink drops, by using an orifice having a non-circular opening at an orifice plate. SOLUTION: A shape of an orifice opening is considered to be like a sandglass. A minor axis bH is set to be approximately 26μm, and a corrected major axis aH is approximately 69μm. An edge defining the corrected minor axis has a radius of curvature rH of approximately 47μm. The particular shape of the orifice opening maintains an opening part of the minor axis narrow while reducing the major axis required for a fixed area of the orifice opening. When the major axis is shortened, a distance of orifices can be smaller in comparison with when the major axis is not shortened and the same area of the orifice opening is realized by an ellipse.
